Here’s the link to the photobooth from Colleen & Jose’s wedding on Whidbey Island yesterday! Download and share them to your heart’s content!

Thanks for a great party, everyone! It was a blast!

Wedding at Crystal Mountain

As someone who grew up in the Pacific Northwest, loves the outdoors, and especially loves skiing, it was a rare treat to take stills and video at Xiaolan and Jifeng’s wedding at Crystal Mountain ski resort, in the shadow of Mount Rainier.

Xiaolan

They are a remarkably loving and friendly couple. The wedding was gorgeous and the guests were a wonderful group to work with.

Dawnet Davis from A Piece of Cake Events was a pleasure to work with, as were the Crystal Mountain staff. Also shooting with us was the talented James Fu from Fortunate Photography who came to take additional photos.

Trang & Jerry

We loved this wedding at the Bear Creek Country Club in Woodinville, WA. They were an awesome couple to work with from the very start and we’re happy to see them married!

Anna & Travis

This beautiful couple had us in tears by the end of their ceremony. The scenic wedding at the Mount Hood Bed & Breakfast in Parkdale, Oregon was breathtaking.

On custom fits

When most businesses try to lower costs, they begin to automate processes. Shoes stop being made by hand and instead are manufactured en masse from templates. This may work for shoes, but bad things happen when photographers and videographers apply the same mass-production model.

I once worked for a wedding video company that had a very specific shot list for each wedding. The shooters and editors all knew what the first shot in the edited video would be, how it would transition into the second shot, and so forth. The videos were scripted and almost every couple had the same shots, the same editing, and alarmingly similar wedding videos. As a result, less creative power and time was invested into the editing process, the videographers at weddings didn’t have to be terribly experienced or artistic, and the company was able to grow quickly and make amazing profits.

But I despised the product.

When we founded Aderyn Productions in 2008, one of the core principles of the business was the custom fit: the haute couture of wedding films & photography.

Ilona & Milton had a gorgeous wedding that was unlike any wedding I’ve shot before. I filmed in ways I’ve never done before, and am in the process of editing their film in ways that I’ve never edited before, including the way I approached this trailer. I hope you love it!

Nathalie & Alex

Nathalie & Alex were married in beautiful Mill Valley, CA on June 25. The reception party was epic, and lasted around six hours thanks to the entertainment provided by Regina’s All Stars.

This gallery of photo highlights will be added to as the rest of the photos are finished. The trailer for the wedding film hints at the great Russian-Jewish festivities that made this wedding a delight.

Greg & Ashley

Greg and Ashley were married in the beautiful San Diego Temple. Their first dance happened a few minutes after they got married, and they continued to dip, spin, smooch and grin all day.

Kimmi’s Designs & Boring Sidney Hats

I did some fashion photos for Kimmi’s Designs and Boring Sidney Hats a few months ago and I just realized that we hadn’t blogged about it!

Kimmi's Designs

If you love Kimmi’s dresses you should visit her Etsy store or ask for her designs at Cicada Bridal on 1st Ave in Seattle. Boring Sidney Hats are intricate, lavish and often unusual. I highly recommend browsing her photo galleries on Facebook to see what amazingness she has done lately.

Macey & Colin

Macey and Colin were married in the Boise, Idaho LDS Temple on March 26 2011. The weather was fierce but they were one of the most cheerful, pleasant couples we’ve ever worked with.

We used studio lighting at the reception to counterbalance the intensely dim atmospheric lights, and the photos of Colin & Macey’s first dance, cake cutting and other traditions were all the better for it. Colin’s dance with his mom was particularly touching, a highlight of a great evening.
