“Overcome” by Alabaster (Official Music Video)

Garrett directed and Jill produced this music video for the Seattle-based band Alabaster. We don’t often get to see punk rock, ballet and krump dance in the same project, but the critical reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. Check it out!

Here’s a link to the video on YouTube.

Overcome by Alabaster directed by Garrett Gibbons Produced by Aderyn Productions in Seattle

“Santa Claus is Coming to Town” by Justin Bieber

Garrett edited this music video in southern California in October during 3 sleepless days to get it delivered to Sony Pictures in time. You can view it in true 3D right now if you go see it play in theaters before Arthur Christmas. Even if you’re not a Bieber fan, check out the excellent urban dancing from many members of The LXD!

Jekyll & Hyde: The Music Video

Happy Halloween!!! Garrett directed this music video for Theoretics that premiered last night during an amazing show at The Triple Door in downtown Seattle. Jill and Garrett co-produced it and the band of course wrote the music!

Jill also took production photos throughout the five days of shooting. Check out the cast photos here: (designs by Helene Hawthorne and Lastwear)

The LXD Season 3 Finale

When Garrett isn’t working on portraits and weddings, he’s usually working on some film project in some remote place of the world. In May and June he was creatively involved in The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers (The LXD), assisting director Charles Oliver on four of the ten episodes in season 3.

Along with storyboarding, assisting the director and working with dancers, Garrett edited the season 3 finale, “Rise of the Drifts,” which was finally released today. Enjoy it!

Anna & Travis

This beautiful couple had us in tears by the end of their ceremony. The scenic wedding at the Mount Hood Bed & Breakfast in Parkdale, Oregon was breathtaking.

Happy Mother’s Day!

We interviewed the kids at our church about their parents as part of a Mother’s Day surprise and put some highlights in this short piece.

Thank you, mothers!

The secret is out!

Okay, the secret’s out. We don’t only do weddings and portraits! Weddings mostly happen during the sunny season, so the other half of the year tends to be filled with music videos, documentary films, and raising our two wonderful boys.

When she’s not taking photos, Jill is a stay-at-home mom, taking care of our two awesome little boys (they’re 2 3/4 and 9 months old). She wouldn’t be happier doing anything else as her primary focus right now.

Jill & Garrett Gibbons

Garrett works in film, and has a secret passion for music and dance. Consequently, he’s often working with bands, hip-hop artists and dancers to make critically-acclaimed music videos in Seattle and the world.

Here’s Garrett’s latest music video (he directed, produced, filmed and edited it), for the excellent live-band hip-hop group called Theoretics. The video and the album got a great review in Seattle Weekly a few days ago, and more projects with the group are already in the works. Enjoy it!

Music video accolades!

Two of our music videos were mentioned in the Top 10 Hip Hop music videos of 2010 by Seattle Weekly!

“Soothsayer” by Victor Shade was placed at number 5.

“Nothing At All” by Hushd Puppies received an honorable mention.

Shawna & David Highlights

Shawna & David were married on October 16, 2010 in the beautiful Seattle Temple, not far from Shawna’s hometown in Maple Valley.

Both families were a delight to be with on the wedding day. Shawna was composed and in charge, strong, regal and graceful. David couldn’t stop smiling all day as countless nephews and nieces ran around Shawna’s dress, almost as excited as she was about the wedding.

This is just a trailer for the in-progress full-length wedding-day movie, but I must say that the dancing at this reception was some of the best I’ve recorded (not because of me, but because of the talent on camera).  The average age of the show-stopping dancers? Somewhere around 6 years old.

Enjoy the trailer!

Rachel & Johnathan Wedding Highlights

Rachel and Johnathan had a beautiful wedding in the Seattle area on an absolutely perfect day in July.

During the first dance, the sun lowered into the trees just perfectly so that a natural spotlight hit the center of the dance floor and just bathed them with golden light, the rest of us in the shade.

The light was phenomenal throughout the dances, with that golden spotlight right in the middle of the dancefloor and nowhere else. Within minutes of the last dance finishing (Johnathan and his mother) the light dropped below the horizon and we were all in the shade.

Watch it happen starting at about 1:20.
